I’m writing this as the first year of my Newcomers of Central Florida presidency (2020-2021) comes to an end, and the second year of my unconventional extended presidency (2021-2022) begins. As I sit and reflect on the challenges of the past year and the contributions of the dedicated club presidents who have preceded me, I am honored and humbled to serve a leadership role in this amazing organization.Taking on this responsibility is weighty; yet it’s the members themselves who make each club endeavor rewarding and worthwhile.

What a whirlwind this year has been with the country’s issues as well as a health pandemic no one could have predicted! With the help of such an experienced Board and dedicated Committee Chairs, Newcomers has managed to survive and thrive this year. I commend and thank the members who continually step up to volunteer for positions to make this the best women’s club in Central Florida. The more volunteers we have, the easier it is to run an outstanding and enjoyable club.

We have new members joining monthly, and I expect this trend to continue. With the influx of new members, there's a great opportunity for both new and long-time members to help shape and maintain the club for the future.

Please do not hesitate to step up. Experience is not a prerequisite, and fresh ideas are welcome. You will always have someone who will work with and guide you. My path to the presidency was not one I anticipated or expected. But I firmly believe that I could not successfully do this job without the many supporters who are continuing to teach me throughout my term of office. I believe that by combining our existing members’ expertise and our new members' contributions, the possibilities for the club’s success are limitless. I encourage you to join me and become an active member of the club.

Look forward to volunteering with each of you.

job descriptions

Newcomers of Central Florida, Inc. has a long and distinguished history in this area dating back to early links to Welcome Wagon and Maitland Newcomers.  In 2011, members Nancy Jaeger and Georgeann Clemons did some extensive research and put together a comprehensive history of the club which was compiled in a handout distributed at the club's 20th anniversary celebration luncheon.  If you want to see how the club has changed and grown over the years as a women's social club with a strong community outreach arm,  check out this wonderful in-depth article from 2011.
